Women of Science: Sylvana Côté is appointed to the "Belle van Zuylen" Chair
The Board of the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands selected Professor Sylvana Côté to hold the Belle van Zuylen Chair for 2006. The chair will support her research on the development of sex differences, with a special emphasis on antisocial behaviour. Belle van Zuylen was born near Utrecht in 1740 and died in Switzerland in 1805. Under the name of Isabelle de Charrière, she published novels, pamphlets, correspondence, plays, and operas (libretto and music). A child of the Enlightenment, she is well known for her avant-garde ideas on women's education.

Sellin-Glueck Award
The Executive Board of the American Society of Criminology awarded the Sellin-Glueck Award to Richard E. Tremblay in recognition of his scholarly contributions to the field of criminology. This well-deserved honor was presented to him in a plenary session at the annual meeting in Toronto, November 16, 2005, at the Royal York Hotel.
Mary C. Early Award
Sylvana Côté, was awarded the Mary C. Early Fellowship grant from the Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation.
This grant will allow
Dr. Côté to pursue her work on the links between preschool experiences (daycare) and child mental health.

(Interdisciplinary Behavioral Research) in order to promote interdisciplinary collaboration between the GRIP and
three faculties of the University of Utrecht (Medicine, Sciences, and Social Sciences).
Joan McCord Prize
To honour her extraordinary contributions to the disciplines of criminology, criminal justice, and sociology, the Academy of Experimental Criminology created the Joan McCord Prize, following her untimely death on, February 24, 2004. Richard E. Tremblay is the first recipient of the Joan McCord Prize in recognition of his outstanding contribution to experimental criminology.
