Calendar of GRIP events During the fall of 2020, we are presenting a series of Zoom lectures made by new researchers from the Group for Research on Psychosocial Maladjustment in Children (GRIP), that is to say those who have become members during our last renewal (2019). The approximately 30-minute “keynote” presentation is followed by a discussion with the host and the audience. During the discussion, we highlight how the research theme presented is relevant for other disciplines and for the collaborations that could take place between our projects.

Protective factors against the intergenerational transmission of antisocial behavior

Children who grow up with a parent with an antisocial history are more than twice as likely to exhibit disruptive or antisocial behaviors themselves, compared to other children from the same socioeconomic background. However, many of them do not follow the antisocial trajectories of their parents. My research program aims to identify the protective factors that promote resilience in these children and that could serve as avenues of intervention to reduce the intergenerational transmission of antisocial behavior. In this talk, I will notably present the preliminary results of a study of young children with a parent who was incarcerated as a teenager.

Perinatal influences on suicide risk in the lifespan

Massimiliano Orri received training in both psychology (BSc and MSc, University of Padua in Italy and PhD, University Paris-Descartes in France) and public health (MSc, methodology and statistics, University Paris-Sud and Postdoc, University of Bordeaux in France). He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at McGill under the supervision of Marie-Claude Geoffroy.
